Leah Martinez
Hello! My name is Leah Martinez, and I have lived in Adams County for thirty-eight years. I first moved to the city of Thornton in 1995, and I am a proud graduate and former cheerleader of Horizon High School! I have known Eric Montoya since we both attended Centennial Elementary together, and I am very proud to call him my friend.
Eric served with Parks and Recreation with the continued development of beautiful Carpenter Park. While Eric was a city council member, I remember attending the most memorable and patriotic celebrations of the 4th of July at Carpenter Park. Not only Carpenter Park, but all the city parks of Thornton were always beautiful and clean during this time. I noticed a huge decline with cleanliness to Thornton’s city parks when Eric took a break from city council to pursue other career endeavors. My heart was broken for our parks when I saw this decline!
I am most proud of Eric’s hard work with the expansion of the Light Rail. The City of Thornton was able to get the Light Rail to commute from Historic Denver Union Station to Eastlake, after many hours of Eric Montoya’s and other city council member’s hard work to lobby for the commuter rail in Washington D.C. Because of Eric’s Hard work with not only the Light Rail, but also with Thornton’s city roads, transportation was so smooth and easy during Eric’s time as city council member! All these important issues of Thornton were completed by Eric even while he raised his son as a single father and cared for his elderly father.
As you can see, I am very proud of my friend Eric. What will make Eric Montoya the right candidate for Thornton City Council Member for Ward 2? Eric Montoya’s wonderful character traits that he developed because of his loving family and friends who grew up with him here in Beautiful Thornton, Colorado!
