I was born in Pueblo, Colorado and raised in Adams County. I watched my dad take care of my mother when she was diagnosed with cancer at a young age. My dad worked two jobs to provide for the expensive health care mom needed to survive. My mom passed away after a long, six year, battle with cancer when I was just 14 years old.
I became a single father when my son was 6 months old and thankfully my dad and family were able to help raise him because it takes a village to raise a family. My son is now married to a wonderful woman and they gave me the greatest joy of my life with 2 grandsons.
In more recent years my family and I took care of our dad as he suffered from dementia which led to his passing at home surrounded by his family. I understand the importance of family and hard work. I have the empathy and compassion to truly understand the struggles and blessings of being the sandwich generation.
I also understand we need a city that is flexible and effective in fulfilling our obligations to our community. The needs and desires of South Thornton are not the same as North Thornton so a blanket policy of one-size-fits-all does not work. My strength is being a collaborator and it has earned me the trust from our community. I hope you will support me and join this movement.
